January, the bleakest most gloomiest of all months. Although I enjoy the fresh start that January brings, I really hate the weather that comes with it. The wet, cold and sometimes snowy climate means that your stuck in the house more often than not and when you have a family that craves the outdoors and the fresh air, it leads to a lot of boredom and irritability amongst the little ones! Roll on summer I say!
We managed to get out of the house to take this picture last week although it was a quick photo session done purely for this post as it was absolutely freezing. The children were cold and not in the mood to be waiting round for too long to get the perfect picture.
I do love taking photos of my bunch, and I’m so glad to be taking part in this year’s Me and Mine Project again. I can’t wait to see what photos unfold in the next 12 months.

Whoops! Where did June go!? Somewhere amongst the birthdays, the milestones, the holiday and the torrential rain we’ve had I completely forgot to post this on the last day of June. Oh well! A day late is better than not at all right?
My photos for the Me and Mine project come from Sunny Cornwall. As most of my pictures from this month have. What can I say!? They were great pictures and we had a great time! Anyway.
As you know, my daughter turned 3 on the 17th June, something I still can’t get my head around! How do we have a three year old? I really feel like we are on borrowed time now before she starts school next September so before I start blubbing into my brew, I’ll swiftly move on.
June has probably been our most busiest month together. We had father’s day and our holiday together plus K’s birthday and birthday party took up two weekends and just general day to day life. It never slows down does it?
As months go, it’s been a pretty great one but I can’t wait to see the back of it to be honest. The weather has been the worst yet!! What is with this bloody rain!? Seriously, Mother Nature – Have a word.
Here’s hoping that July will bring us some much needed sunshine and brighter days!

Every month I declare that I am going to be more organised with photo opportunities and guess what!?…this month I actually was! *fist pumps* We have had such a great month as a family. May has seen my hubby have quite a few days off work (love that)due to bank holidays, birthdays and general days to take and the weather has been absolutely gorgeous so we have been out and about making the most of our time together and I managed to take my tripod out on 3 different occasions (go me!) which has meant lots of lovely family memories in some lovely scenic locations. I find it really easy to take my camera out with me and K is so used to it now she even asks if we can go out and take some pictures haha! She finds it really funny that I do a mad dash back over to her once I’ve set the camera on the timer!
I’ve mentioned many times before that we are very much an outdoors family and you can normally find us in woodlands and different parks. It makes it really easy as K walks really well and we are keen baby wearers so D is always in a sling which makes it easy as we don’t have to drag a pushchair around with us. I used to do 99% of the sling wearing when D was a newborn but he’s so heavy now that I can’t wear him for a prolonged period of time as it’s too much of a strain on my already bad back so my hubby shares the wearing now. It’s actually really lovely as he gets that bonding time with D too and it takes the pressure off me.
We’ve been so so busy this month but it has been a nice busy where our time has been filled with quality activities (days out, birthday parties, weddings, fairs, seaside) rather than just boring busy life schedules and I thank my lucky stars that we are privileged enough to do the things together that we do. We are away on holiday in the next fortnight and it will be our first holiday as a family of four and D’s first holiday experience. To say I am excited is an understatement! It’s a strange feeling as I feel like it’s a milestone that I was pushing to hit. D was so poorly when he was born and we almost lost him so to be having his first holiday feels like we’ve made it past the finish line. It probably sounds really strange!

These months photos are coming straight from Graves Park this morning, one of K’s favourite destinations in the world it appears. We must go here AT LEAST once a week. This morning I realised that although we had done quite a bit as a family this month and had a few days out I’d not taken any photos of the four of us together (naughty naughty!) So off we went with my camera and my tripod and poised ourselves in front of the lambs to take a photo. I do feel really disappointed when I don’t get many photos of us all together. It’s annoying because I genuinely have my camera on me at all times, whether that be on my phone or my big camera and I’m always taking pictures of my family (I’m seriously snap happy) but because I’m behind the camera lense I’m never in them therefore we rarely get pictures all together. This is what I love so much about the me and mine project, it forces you to take the photos you would have otherwise missed. So as per usual, next month I promise to take more photos as a family throughout the month! (I fear that is a goal I will be making each and every month)
The weather has been a funny one this month. Annoying as that is. Firstly we have the sun so hot that we all get sunburn then it quickly turns into rain and then snow. The joys of living in the UK I guess! It does make it really difficult though to make family plans as you never know what it’s going to be like. Like I mentioned, we have had a few weekends where we’ve done a fair bit together including a trip to a wildlife park earlier this month and a trip to the bowling alley. Plus the usual park/picnic and swimming trips. D is becoming more aware of his surroundings now which is lovely so I feel like he is really taking in what we are doing and enjoying it to a certain extent (as much as a 7 month old can do, anyway). I do love March, April and May as they are the months with the most bank holidays what with Easter and May day so it means extra family time and the hubby not being at work as much.
May is particularly quite in our household but the hubby’s birthday ensures that we will have a few family days. Let’s just hope the weather picks up for the next upcoming month!
This month we are loving
Daddy being off work more for the bank holidays
Picnics (when the weather holds out)
Visiting the animals at the park and at the zoo
Waking up to sunshine

That’s it from us this month. If you want to see more of what we get up to as a family then head over to Instagram where you can find my daily pictures and musings.
What a wonderful month March has been! It doesn’t matter which month Easter falls in whether its March or April we always have a busy time as it’s a 4 day bank holiday weekend. We’ve really made the most of this Easter weekend especially as the weather on Good Friday was glorious where we were (No coats people, no coats!) We spent Friday at Chatsworth house in Derbyshire doing an egg hunt and Easter filled activities plus they have a lovely farm to walk round so K really enjoyed doing that. Not to mention that Chatsworth House is on stunning grounds so you could spend the day literally walking round them. Saturday was a swimming day. D is FINALLY starting to enjoy swimming now and lasted much longer than the 7 minutes he’s previously lasted (Hurrah!) It helped that I ran to the shops on Saturday morning to buy an inflatable chair for him to sit in the water with so I think it made him feel more secure. Why I haven’t bought him one of those chairs before now I’ll never know as we got K one when she first started swimming at 8 weeks old!! Oh well, he has it now and loves it. Sunday was the busiest day as we had all our family round for food and drink. There were 15 of us (18 if you include little ones!!) so it was a hectic day but it really was lovely to catch up with family. If your anything like us, it takes a military operation to get us all together at one time as we all have super busy schedules but usually special occasions tend to bring us together. K was exhausted by the time everyone left as she had been running round so giddy all day. Monday ended up being a bit of a chill day as the weather was cold and gloomy. If any of you saw my Instagram you will have seen that I queued for an hour and 10 minutes at our local shopping centre so K could meet and greet Bing and Flopp from Cbeebies (Yes, you heard right – 1hr and 10 minutes!! Madness, I know) She was so happy about it though and I guess it was better than a morning in front of the TV. The afternoon dried up a bit but was still really cold and windy but we managed to go to one of our local parks where our picture was taken this month. Literally the quickest photo I have ever taken on a tripod as 1. it was absolutely freezing and windy 2. it had started to rain and 3. D was furious that I had got him out of his warm pram just so I could take a photo and was about to cry. (never work with children or animals)
It’s so nice that we can say that spring is finally here. It’s such a wonderful time when all our surroundings are waking up from the winter months and new animals are being born. It’s officially a good bye to the winter gloomy weather. The clocks going forward means that the nights are lighter and the mornings are lighter. It also means it’s one step closer to summer time. Hurrah!
This month we are loving…
Park trips after tea time
New animals being born and living close by to see them
Going out without our big coats and hats
Easter eggs and chocolate
K’s scuttle bug and scooter
