March has been a funny old month. The clocks went forward last weekend which left us an hour short on time and the weather has been absolutely crazy. One minute the sun was splitting the trees and we had no coats on and then the next the met office had issued a weather warning out for snow. SNOW. In March! I know, It’s ridiculous.
I think I start every family post with the line “It’s been a busy old month”…but it really has been a busy old month. Such is family life eh!?
Our new kitchen and flooring got installed in the 1st week of this month which is super exciting. It meant that our house was upside down for a couple of weeks though which is less than ideal. It’s all finally coming together now though and it looks amazing. I’m so pleased with it.
Katie had two dance exams which she passed with flying colours! We were so proud of her (although, can you fail a 3 year old in a dance exam? I hardly think so) So she had two new shiney medals to take home and are in pride of place in her bedroom.
March has been a month of bugs and illness in our house. Dylan came down with a wheeze and a chesty cough which saw us spend the night in the hospital with him. He was treated for croup and is absolutely fine now. I hate it when the little ones are ill. It makes me so anxious. It’s a horrible time. I always wish that I could have all their illnesses and bugs so they didn’t need to get them. I’m sure every parent thinks like that though.
The hubby has been away last weekend on his brothers stag du in Tenerife so we’ve got this week off to do lots of nice family things and days out. Our pictures this month were taken at the seaside and in our back garden. A slight mixture but I forgot to take my camera out with me on our days trips this month (!). Kids love the seaside don’t they!? Heck, I love the seaside. The sun, the sand, the ice creams! Children laughing and having fun! It’s fantastic. Let’s hope the summer brings lot’s more trips to the seaside!

An out-take. When you cant control an 18 mth old
The photo’s are so blurry, I wasn’t happy with the way they came out at all. I can only assume it’s because we are on a hill and the wind was blowing my tripod. I’ll never make a professional photographer haha!
September has been an emotional month and a month of change for us all in our family. K started at preschool on the 5th, our little man turned one years old on the 18th and I’ve just returned to work this week following maternity leave. We’ve also been away for a week so it’s been pretty full on. It’s a month where we’ve all grown a little bit whether it’s physically or mentally and we’ve all had to learn new routines. This months photos were taken on D’s actual birthday. We had gone to the local park in the morning to try out his new trike. The weather was beautiful and probably one of our last sunny days before autumn really sets in. We had such a nice morning playing around in the trees and the grass. K has started to share my love of photography and wanted to take some photos of myself and D which to be honest, she did a great job at and I keep meaning to dig our old digital camera out for her to have a practice on.
Although September has now come to an end and it’s probably the last we will see of any sunny days, I feel excited about autumn coming. The cosy nights and scented candles, the autumn clothing and cold weekend walks are my favourites things about the winter weather and I can’t wait to embrace it!

So, I’m a day late in posting this but the picture was took yesterday. On a leap year! Happy leap year for yesterday everyone! February has been a busy month for us with K starting nursery and trying to adjust in to a routine on a Wednesday with that and illness has hit this household more than once for some of us plus having the joys of a teething baby. It’s a month that has really kept us on our toes. I’m hoping March brings us a quieter, less busy time where we can have time to relax – Something I doubt as Easter is just around the corner. I do love when February and March come, it’s a sign that Spring is well on its way. Everything seems more cheery, the weather seems to be improving slightly and everything around us seems to be “waking up” from its winter sleep. I am loving that the Daffodils are in bloom they are by far my favourite flower, they are so sunny and bright. They instantly cheer me up when I see them.
February has seen us do quite a few fun family things. I took K to her first ever cinema showing – Hotel Transylvania 2 which was on a Saturday morning as part of the kids club. I was a bit nervous on how she was going to react as she hates dark spaces, she hates loud noises and she can’t sit still for longer than 10 minutes…but she absolutely loved it!! She was so good and sat on my knee the whole length of the film (which is quite a task for a 2 year old). It was lovely to see her giggling along to the funny bits in the film whilst she munched on her popcorn and sweets (at 10:30am!!). I was so pleased that she had so much fun and I can’t wait to take her again. We’ve also took both K and D swimming a couple of times and this weekend (that has just gone) we visited The Deep in Hull. A large aquarium. We’ve been before a few times but K was a lot younger. She really enjoyed it this time and could really appreciate it for what it was. We had an absolute blast.
The photos this month really do make me giggle. I was supposed to take them at the weekend but we had such a busy time that we just didn’t get chance to do them. So last night saw us frantically setting the camera up in our house to take some pictures before February was over. Notice that both my children are in their PJs ready for bed! It had been an eventful teatime as it usually is, so we had to quickly clean the pair of them up and make them look semi presentable! Ah the joys of parenthood, hey!?

That’s it for me this month. I’m really looking forward to March and I’m excited to see what the next month brings us.
